Many beekeepers consider that the beekeeping year begins in the fall. I like the notion that our first chores of the new year are to take stock, organize and prepare for hard times ahead, and that the year ends with warm weather and a slower pace. As the year ends, we have much to be thankful for. Our bees have contributed to the pollination success of countless flowering plants around Great Falls. We have increased the number of volunteers helping with our ministry. We have grown the Honey Harvest Festival, and have added our third apiary.
This coming year, we are starting a partnership with the Northern Virginia Beekeepers Association to provide educational opportunities to beekeepers in Northern Virginia, we hope to expand new apiary to 10 colonies, and begin to sell our honey on this website.
As I think of the year ahead, I am filled with hope and optimism for what is to come, knowing that the familiar rhythm of preparation, challenges, rewards and rest will again reveal the beauty of God’s creation.
