We welcomed approximately 420 visitors to this year’s Honey Harvest Festival on August 30. People enjoyed live outdoor music, crafts produced by our vendors and plenty of baked goods and honey.
Over the past several weeks we have inspected all of our hives. We have found a few that are lagging a bit behind and will likely combine a few of them over the next few weeks. We discovered a swarm in a swarm trap that we had not checked since mid June. The colony in it appears to be healthy and we have moved it into a 10 frame hive in our Dogwood Farm Apiary. We will treat them for mites over the next two weeks and feed them. We have a small 5 frame colony that we will combine with this colony later this fall. We have some new volunteers that have started this fall who have already make a positive impact on our operations. Thanks to Sarah and Blaine for helping out.
