This past weekend, we took the hives out of storage, sorted all our equipment and assembled the equipment necessary to transfer or 5 frame nucs we will receive into the 10 frame equipment they will spend the summer in.
The hives will start off with a 10 frame deep (9-1/8 inch) brood boxes with two follower boards, one frame of comb and two frames of new foundation. on top of the brood box is a jar feeder shim and box. On top of the hive is a telescoping top cover. The entire hive is held to the stand with a ratcheting strap and a brick.
The top box on both hives are made of reclaimed heart pine flooring.
